"A Thanks to Fire" by Ryan Taylor
You only started out as a small spark,
In the night of the old times of mankind.
They watched you in awe as you made your mark.
They praised as you sparked the fire of the mind.
Many years go by on the world called Earth,
As man evolved and prepared you for use.
They then used you for when the heat was dearth.
They use you ‘till your fury is let loose.
You have the most devastating power.
You rage across man’s land and let it burn.
Before you, in this state, they all cower,
Yet you also help them evolve in turn.
You are the glorious thing all admire.
You are greatness incarnate, you are fire.
